Mitra Monthly: Holding While Being Held
May 18 9 - 11am EST Online and in-person at 50 Arrow
Service Description
Join us for this monthly two-hour workshop rooted in the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method, blending trauma-informed yoga with somatic therapy practices. Each session includes guided discussions, thoughtful readings, and shared experiences, offering a compassionate space for exploration and growth. Every month, we will explore a new theme designed to support healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. Workshops are accessible for all, with chair variations available. Tiered pricing ensures inclusivity. In honor of Mother's Day, this month's workshop is co-hosted by Lorrie Murenzi, a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200, Prenatal) and trained birth and postpartum doula. Together we will offer a space for moms and femme-identifying caregivers of young children (ages 6 and under) to reconnect with their bodies and redefine what care looks like—from the inside out. We’ll explore how you physically hold—your child, your emotions, your expectations—and how you might begin to support yourself more sustainably. Through gentle movement, breathwork, and guided reflection, we’ll work toward balance and support in both posture and purpose. This workshop invites you to explore what true care looks like when you’re constantly caring for others—and how to define motherhood and success on your own terms, not the ones society imposes. Lorrie Murenzi is a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200, Prenatal) and trained birth and postpartum doula. She has a deep passion for supporting birthing people through the transformative perinatal journey. Her experience as a doula informs her approach to yoga instruction, which focuses on empowering and accessible movement that respects each participant's unique needs. Lorrie's teaching is rooted in a culturally responsive lens. She creates space for all birthing people to feel seen, respected, and supported while guiding students toward gratitude, mind-body connection, and sustainable and practical self-care practices. Her classes offer more than just movement—they are a space for healing, empowerment, and community. Learn more about Lorrie here: https://msha.ke/lorriemurenziwellness/#about

Cancellation Policy
Class Cancellations Periodically, class cancellations do occur for planned or unforeseen circumstances. If you have pre-registered for a class or workshop that is later cancelled, you will be notified using the email address we have in the scheduling system as soon as possible. When Angelica cancels, class credit is offered for a future class. Participant Class Cancellation or “No-Show” If you cancel in advance of 4 hours before class start time, your class credit will be available for use for a future class. Please cancel your class registration as soon as you know you will not be able to make it. If you cancel less that 4 hours before class start = “late cancel,” or are marked “no-show,” one class credit will be deducted from your account. You may “late cancel” your class yourself by logging into your account. The class credit will be deducted, but this will free up a class space for someone else to attend the class. If you late-cancel, you can request that a friend or relative attend the class using your credit if you can arrange that.
